Let's go gardening...

February 2012

As snowdrops and winter aconites come to the end of their flowering period they can be transplanted if required.

Freshly lifted bare-rooted herbaceous perennials can continue to be split and planted when the soil is not frosted. A good range of new varieties are available in the plantaria.

Pruning of top fruit trees can continue this month. Wisterias can be spur pruned. Plan sowings of early flowers and vegetables. See the reference section for advice on these tasks.

Hamamelis flowersCome and see our new stock of Witch hazels (Hamamelis sp). New and traditional varieties are available in a range of colours and sizes.

Camelia DonationOur Camellias are now breaking into flower. Come and choose that perfect colour and flower shape for you. Camellias are great for tubs and shady spots. They need an acid soil and shouldn't get the early morning sun, but otherwise they are easy to grow, but exotic looking!

We're ready for snow, are you?
We have snow shovels, sledges and rocksalt; Stock up now while it's easy!
