The Gardeners Café

It’s that time of year when the sun is out, the temperature is up and gardens are fully in bloom. At Sussex Country Gardener we know that means that people want to get everything ready for your little patch of nature, from those little additions to have your garden looking just right, to a complete redesign of your patch of nature. Whilst we know that it’s fun to come and have a busy day shopping for new garden supplies, remember that we look after our gardens so that we can relax and bask in the fruit of our labour. Shopping with Sussex Country Gardener is no different, and whilst we know that you’ll be eager to crack on and get everything together for your garden, it’s important to stop for a little while and enjoy a well earned break at The Gardeners Café. In fact we feel that our Café is so good, that from time to time it doesn’t hurt to stop by just to treat yourself to a visit to the Café alone.

Eat, Drink & Unwind

Café IndoorsOur award-winning Café is a great place to relax and unwind, we’ve got a beautiful café terrace where you can soak up the sunshine of a clear day, or if you just need somewhere to dive out the way of a brief shower we have plenty of seating indoors. We offer a wide range of teas and hot drinks, as well as some refreshing soft drinks, and a great selection of cakes and sweet treats. From 12pm we serve lunch, with regularly changing specials; some days we’ll serve some tasty pasta dishes, other days homemade fish pies. We also make sure that we have something for those of you who are a bit greener than others, with a selection of vegetarian dishes to choose from. If you’re after a hearty start to your day, or fancy a bit of a treat, we offer filling cooked breakfasts to get you through.

Locally Sourced Produce

Where possible we always source our produce locally, and we have good reasons for doing so. We find that local produce is fresher and tastes better; usually this is down to it being grown in season and spending as little time out of the ground before it finds its way through us to you, and it also tends to lack preservatives. local tomatoesBy purchasing locally sourced produce we know that we’re doing our part to support the local economy, assisting in keeping local independent farms in business and allowing them to thrive against their multinational counterparts. It’s also better for the environment, as we find that locally sourced produce cuts down on unnecessary packaging, and most local farmers tend to use green technologies and embrace natural recycling, meaning that waste is reduced, as is harmful manufacturing processes. Using locally sourced produce we also know that we’re cutting down on the need for a broad distribution network, which reduces the number of vehicles on the motorways, keeping the roads a little bit clearer for you. Having said all that about the benefits of locally sourced produce, our cheese scones have gained in popularity and are world renowned.

So next time you come to the Sussex Country Gardener be sure to take a moment out of your day just for you, or bring friends and family if you’re feeling generous, and unwind in our Café or peruse our Food Hall. You can relax on the terrace or unwind indoors and enjoy some of our tasty locally sourced produce, including cooked meals, breakfasts and lunches, cakes, and of course teas and refreshing drinks.
